Gabrielle Shaker - Just For Does Pro Staff

Posted by Gabrielle Shaker - Just For Does Pro Staff on

My names Gabrielle and I am a 24 year old physical therapist assistant from a small town in pa. I wasn't raised hunting I am the second oldest of 6 kids one boy and 5 girls. I grew up in the middle of no where and often went to my grams farm but I actually never even thought about hunting or even trying it until I met my Now husband at 15. I started out just tagging along and it wasn't until I was 19 that I decided to give it a try for myself. The first year I went out I successfully harvested a couple pheasant, that was my first ever harvest. The adrenaline rush that I felt when my father in law told me to walk up to the dogs because they were on a bird and to get ready was indescribable. My heart was beating a mile a minute when the dog flushed the bird I shot and saw it hit the ground! That was one of the best feelings I have felt! It wasn't because I shot something but because I just provided food for my family for the first time! I then gave whitetail hunting a try and wasn't successful my first year I actually missed and not just once which was very discouraging! But I instantly feel in love with it and The adrenaline rush that I experienced was like nothing I ever felt before! The following year I continued to go out for pheasant , whitetail and even turkey I was hooked! It wasn't until this year that I started going on solo hunts and I am beyond happy I did. Not only do I feel like I am becoming one with nature but it's has also taught me so much! Am I successful Every time I go out? No and that's okay (although the main Goal is to harvest an animal) it's not my only goal. every time I go out I feel like I become a better hunter and am constantly learning more about myself and nature which is something I love. My favorite type of hunting is definitely pheasant hunting there is just something so enjoyable about watching the dogs work the field and then having your heart pumping When they are on point! When hunting season is over and I feel like I'm lost and don't know what to do with myself I really enjoy riding horses it gives me an escape from this crazy world! I also love to make crafts and hanging out with my 2 dogs bear and browning
